An innovative new learning exchange which took place this month, saw a group of peacebuilders from north east Kenya travel to Liberia to learn more about community peace platforms, cross-border peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
A new survey conducted by Conciliation Resources and the US-based Alliance for Peacebuilding, has found strong backing among Britons for the idea of engaging with armed groups – including those labelled as proscribed terrorist organisations – in order to resolve conflicts around the world.
In June and July 2017, Conciliation Resources and the Alliance for Peacebuilding conducted the first ever national surveys of public attitudes in the United Kingdom (UK), the United States (US) and Germany towards peacebuilding and dialogue with armed groups.
The survey offered the opportunity to compare and contrast public views at a time of shifting geopolitics and multiple security challenges. The results show a striking level of consensus, with widespread understanding of and support for peacebuilding in each country, and strong support for dialogue with groups who use armed violence, in order to further peace.
To mark the 70th anniversary of the independence of India, Pakistan and the conflict over Jammu and Kashmir, in September 2017 Conciliation Resources facilitated a series of events in London and Washington D.C.
Over the past seven years, four filmmakers, from both the Indian and Pakistani administered sides of Jammu and Kashmir have produced a series of films, despite limited opportunities to meet or communicate across the divide. The films document the lives of the people living in this region and highlight the potential for building bridges across the divide
Ahead of local and national elections taking place in Kenya this week, local peacebuilders have been calling for calm in the northern county of Garissa, a region identified as a potential hotspot for post-election violence.

This week saw the launch of a new council of indigenous women in Colombia, which will work towards ensuring the voices of their respective communities are heard as the country moves towards peace.
