A new £1 billion Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF) is set to replace the Conflict Pool (which has supported the UK’s work in addressing conflict and fragility) in April 2015 under the direction of the National Security Council. International peacebuilding NGOs Saferworld, Conciliation Resources and International Alert have put together a briefing that asks what this change might mean for the direction of the UK’s work on conflict prevention. The briefing provides recommendations for how parliamentarians can ensure that a progressive long-term vision for peace is at the core of the CSSF and the UK’s broader approach to engagement in conflict-affected and fragile states. It discusses building on the legacy of the Conflict Pool, continued investment in addressing the causes of conflict, and conflict prevention and proven intervention.
