Our staff team based out of Melbourne focus on working with partners to respond to conflicts and build peace across this diverse area.
Conciliation Resources has a long-running history of work in the Pacific region and in Southeast Asia. Our very first partnership was with the Citizens Constitutional Forum in Fiji and we have maintained a presence here ever since.
Currently, as well as continuing to work with partners in Fiji, including on the important topic of climate change and conflict, we focus much of our work in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea. We also look at the wider Pacific region and in particular at understanding and responding to the connections between climate, environment and conflict.
We began work in Southeast Asia, in the Philippines, supporting the peace process between the Government of the Philippines and Moro Islamic Liberation Front and through working with partners in communities. As a member of the International Contact Group, we have been supporting implementation of the peace accord that was signed in 2014.
Using the learning, expertise and evidence we have gained from our peacebuilding research and practice in this region, we look for opportunities to advocate peacebuilding approaches to conflicts, and advise members of the Australian and other governments.
