This edition of of the security-focussed publication looks at the successes and challenges of Conciliation Resources and its partners when carrying out their peace and security work in Sierra Leone.
This is the fifth edition of Peace, security and development update, part of the Strengthening Citizens’ Security pilot project.
This edition gives an overview of the successes, challenges and lessons learned in Sierra Leone during the year by the four partners: Conciliation Resources, Mano River Union Women’s Peace Network, Search for Common Ground/Talking Drum Studios, and the Centre for Development and Security Analysis.
The achievements of their peace and security work are examined under four broad themes (1) improved communication (2) increased public awareness (3) citizens’ engagement with the security sector and (4) knowledge and skills of civil society on security. Lessons learned from their experiences are also set out at the end of the update. The role of women and youth and cross-border issues are also explored.
