For the first time, a comprehensive survey of Georgian internally displaced persons (IDPs) about issues such as returning home to Abkhazia, conflict and justice has been carried out.  Their intentions and thoughts, whilst central to a successful conflict resolution, are rarely known and are often simply assumed.  Conciliation Resources therefore draws important lessons from the results of the survey to assist policy makers and ongoing discussions.  Findings range from the importance of welfare and integration policy improvements to the need for more representation generally and honest debate on the issue of return.
