In the Central African Republic, where political manipulation of religious identity has torn communities apart, local peace committees are gluing them back together. In Congo, local peace committees have also shown their mettle calming tensions between displaced people, refugees and host communities.
We warn that despite a new peace agreement in South Sudan increasing violence in Western Equatoria State and the creation of new administrative borders could see the civil war spread. And in northern Uganda civil society stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of those who went missing during the Lord’s Resistance Army conflict. We keep their memory alive.
