For this study, Conciliation Resources commissioned papers from three Armenian and three Azeri analysts to give insights into each parties' approaches to the conflict and possible scenarios for the state of the conflict in 2014.
The six essays from Shain Abbasov, Karen Bekaryan, Tabib Huseynov, Manvel Sarkisian, Rashad Shirinov and Mikayel Zolyan argue that the unresolved status of the conflict is in neither parties' interests. A stable peace agreement cannot be dictated by external players but they can nevertheless be important facilitators. The papers also explain that certain internal changes are needed on each side, as well as a shift beyond considering the conflict in 'win-lose' terms, in order for peace to be achieved.
