The Women, Peace and Security Helpdesk is a call-down facility that provides high-quality, evidence informed analysis and expertise on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and gender issues to different UK government teams. Specifically, the helpdesk can support the gender sensitivity of, and integration of gender transformation into, conflict and security-focused policy and programming, and boost UK capacity to advance its Women, Peace and Security National Action Plan.
The helpsdesk is managed by Saferworld in partnership with Conciliation Resources, Gender Action for Peace and Security UK (GAPS), University of Durham and Women International Peace Centre (WIPC). The helpdesk is funded by the UK government’s Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF).
The type of support offered can vary depending on need, but examples include:
- Gender and conflict analyses at a local, national or regional level to inform policy and programming
- Research exploring the links between gender and a range of conflict and security issues
- Training sessions on gender and conflict analysis, and gender and conflict-sensitive monitoring, evaluation and learning
- Reviewing plans, strategies and documentation
The WPS Helpdesk website has been set up to share the research reports and other materials developed by experts via the helpdesk call-down facility, making them available to the UK government and the broader public.
The helpdesk management team can be contacted at enquiries.wpshelpdesk@saferworld.org.uk or using the contact form on the helpdesk website.
