In this document, Conciliation Resources sets out its recommendations to the government in light of the UK's decision to develop a new strategy for engaging constructively with conflict and instability overseas.
The paper summarises 12 proposals and then provides details of each, also using examples from Uganda and the South Caucasus.
Advice includes concentrating on building stability in its broadest sense, developing coherence in government policy across departments and supporting locally based conflict prevention. Other suggestions are to develop capacities for middle-income context work and in-house conflict response capabilities.
