Conciliation Resources’ Kristian Herbolzheimer speaks at the third Peace Lens event, which focuses on Transitional Justice in the Bangsamoro.
Peace Lens is a series of conversations launched in August 2013 by forumZFD and Bread for the World (Civil Peace Service) in collaboration with the Al Qalam Institute for Islamic Identities & Dialogue in Southeast Asia,Ateneo de Davao University.
It tackles contentious issues of the Bangsamoro peace process through a series of roundtable discussions on topics such as transition process; territory/land; governance and power sharing; wealth sharing; justice system and respecting the rights of women, indigenous peoples and non-Moros; and normalisation.
Through this, the discussions seek to contribute to a deeper understanding and constructive discourse on controversial issues with a high potential for misrepresentation and polarisation.
A week before this roundtable discussion was organised, both the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) expressed that they have already achieved working consensus on the mechanisms that will address the different security aspects of normalisation such as the private armed groups, and disposition of weapons and combatants, and land conflicts; the provision of socio-economic programs; and reconciliation.
