The meeting gathered Member States and EU institutions representatives, as well as more than 30 non-governmental organisations working on mediation and peacebuilding.
The day was structured around four sessions focusing on “Digitalisation & Mediation”, “Religion & Mediation”, “Women’s Mediators Networks” and the “EU as a mediaton actor”. Two members of mediatEUr participated in the meeting as thematic experts and co-facilitators: Miguel Varela, who presented the session on digitalisation with Dr. Antje Herrberg (EEAS), and Dr. Catherine Turner, who co-facilitated the discussions on Women’s Mediators Networks with Lara Scarpitta (EEAS). The session on “Religion & Mediation” featured Owen Frazer.
At the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the EU’s concept on mediation, this first CoP meeting constitutes an important stepping stone in forging a stronger community of practice in peace mediation for the institution and its partners. mediatEUr is looking forward to working with all stakeholders to support this growing community further.
More information on the content of the different sessions can be found in the report, authored by ecdpm, below.
In 2021, mediatEUr became Conciliation Resources EU/mediatEUr.
