Kathryn joined Conciliation Resources in January 2018. Kathryn has a PhD in social anthropology, gained after spending a year living in rural southern Russia with displaced Meskhetian Turks. She then worked in a number of education and conflict research roles, for research institutes, INGOs and the UN, including fours years at the Ministry of Defence, helping government to use social sciences to understand and talk to people. Kathryn spent a year in Aceh, Indonesia after the tsunami, working with Peace Brigades International. For the last five and a half years she has been Regional Director, Asia at the BBC’s International development charity, BBC Media Action, overseeing operations of six country offices. She is very much looking forward to a return to a greater focus on conflict and working in partnership to reduce violence with Conciliation Resources.
