Sophia joined Conciliation Resources in November 2016 as Senior Adviser, Gender and Peacebuilding. She leads on our policy engagement on gender and represents Conciliation Resources in international policy fora on gender and peacebuilding. She also supports Conciliation Resources' staff and partner organisations to integrate gender-sensitivity across their peacebuilding work.

Sophia has worked for a number of years across the Asia-Pacific region for the Australian Agency for International Development as a peace, conflict and development specialist, including a diplomatic posting in Papua New Guinea. She has also worked as a researcher and consultant to governments, the United Nations and non-government organisations working on peacebuilding and Indigenous self-determination. This work has included analysis, program design and implementation, facilitating training and undertaking monitoring and evaluation.

Sophia completed her PhD at the Australian National University in 2016 where she researched the use of inclusive peacebuilding practices to transform violence in Timor-Leste. She also holds a BArts (Honours IA) and BEconomics from the University of Queensland in Australia. In August 2016 Sophia was appointed Honorary Lecturer at the National Centre for Indigenous Studies at the Australian National University.
