The Ebola crisis and the inadequate responses of stakeholders to the outbreak have heightened tensions in the isolated Mano River border regions.

Working with local organisations and communities in the border regions of Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, Conciliation Resources will contribute to the prevention and mitigation of violence triggered or exacerbated by the Ebola crisis, and official responses to it.

The 18-month project has four interlinked strategies:

  1. Capacity building for conflict resolution in the Ebola context
  2. Community sensitisation on managing social tensions related to Ebola
  3. Local dialogue and mediation in the border region
  4. Policy dialogue and early warning
